All computers have an exclusive Mac and Local IP address. Google approximates your location, views your online history, looks at the cache on your machine, and strives to deliver results appropriate to you. Here are the main reasons that search results vary by device:

  • Who Google thinks you are. Several factors come into this scenario: your Google+ profile, authorship of content using rich snippets data, places you’ve logged into while also being logged into Google, etc.
  • Geographic location. Searches are different depending on where you are. You may utilize different settings at home from when you are on vacation or if you are traveling throughout the city looking for a restaurant. Location settings change search results and show Google maps and listings, which activate the algorithm’s local ranking segment.
  • Your latest searches. Using your local browser history, online browsing history, and your browser cache, results are tailored to you. It includes all the searches you have done, Google and non-Google, the sites that you have engaged with, how much time you spend there, etc. Google keeps non-deletable records about this activity. You can delete your browser files, but your searches and Google are linked over time of constant interaction.
  • Social results blend into the SERP.
  • Website history that includes cookies, browsing history search results, and local browser history.
  • Results may vary depending on which of the many Google data centers provide your results.
  • Logging in and out of Google affects individualized results.
  • Universal searches combine with other sources like news, images, and YouTube into searches.
