Facebook Unveils Tools to Help Users Connect With Local Businesses
Small businesses will want to take a close look at their Facebook pages now that Facebook has launched a new range of features that allow users to better connect with local businesses. These new features include the ability to purchase event tickets, request quotes for services, schedule appointments, get mapped based on recommendations from other Facebook users, and even order food – all through a business’s Facebook page.
Facebook’s Vice President of ads and business platform, Andrew Bosworth, said Facebook tracks patterns of consumer behavior on the platform in order to continually improve the user experience. As a result, Facebook is partnering with outside vendors through applications to do just that: improve the experience. This includes working with companies like EventBrite so a Facebook user can purchase event tickets right from the event page on Facebook. Users can also send appointment requests through business pages and then use Facebook Messenger to communicate and confirm that appointment with the business directly. Delivery.com and Slice will even deliver food you order from restaurant business pages. You catching on yet? This can revolutionize how businesses are using their Facebook pages, and how much energy is spent on maintaining them.
With these new tools coming to Facebook, we encourage you to take a look at your own Facebook business pages and at minimum ensure your basic contact information is up to date. You can be sure this is just a taste of what’s to come from Facebook. If you want to stay ahead of the curve, find out who is visiting your page, and then see what more you might be able to offer them when they visit your page, whether that means requesting appointments or consultations or even selling event tickets.
